Art of Photography

Collaboration: Outside the Lens, A.R.T.S.
Description: Students learned the art of photography through understanding composition and elements of art to tell a story through one image. They met professional photographers for critique of their work and guest lecturers shared their perspectives.
They exhibited their work at the A.R.T.S. gallery space in Liberty Station with generous food donation by Solare restaurant.

Flash Ecosystems Project

Collaboration: UCSD Digital Media Pedagogy course
Description: Students learned Flash Actionscript 2.0 programming, tweening, and button-making to create models of ecosystems. Students learned how to interpret the life of an ecosystem by recreating elements in Flash, programming interactivity and animating them.

HP Grant Project: Mind Collisions
Grade Level: 8

Collaboration: Wildcoast, HTHCV
Description: Students in the 8th grade collaborated with HTHCV 11th graders to create promotional and outreach media material for the Otay Valley Regional Park, in support of conservational efforts led by Wildcoast. This project was funded by an HP Innovations in Education grant which provided computers, printers, and other equipment.

Description: Students met with oceanographers and I Love a Clean SD to learn about the Pacific Garbage Patch and created an IVIE award-winning animated short film.
