Flash Games Project
Grade Level: 8th
Timeline: 4 weeks
Collaboration: UCSD Digital Media Pedagogy course
Description: Students proposed a game concept and design. Under the instruction and support from a UCSD professor and his students, they learned how to translate their concept into a working game using Flash Action Script 2.0, buttons, and tweens.
Students learned the principles of game design, basic flash programming, character creation and the realization of a working product.

Preteen Vaccine Week PSA Project
Grade Level: 8
Timeline: 4 weeks
Collaboration: San Diego Health and Human Services Agency
Description: Students learned about different vaccines and created PSAs using county data and statistics. The PSA was part of a healthy challenge aimed at encouraging youth to get vaccinated. They were posted online and entered into competition for a prize. Students exhibited PSAs and brochures they had created to a panel of health professionals.

Stories of Service

Collaboration: Stories of Service, Veterans Memorial and Museum
Description: Students honored the defining moment stories of local veterans through this national digital storytelling project. Exhibition of their stories took place at the local Veteran's Museum and select students went on to honor their veterans by walking in the National Memorial Day Parade. Students who participated in Washington went on to create a student organization to continue their service in storytelling.

Description: A cross-cultural animation project aimed at understanding both sides of the U.S./Mexico Border as seen through stories created by San Diego and Tijuana youth.
